Last week Thursday (23-02) we had our first live performance without Tom as the bassplayer. Even after a solid month of rehearsals we were still pretty nervous of how the new one was going to react on stage. Happily, everything went better than expected and for now we would like to introduce to y'all our new bassplayer.. Pim Bleeker!

We are throwing a party next month, just because we can. We invited our friends from King Jack and The Sidekicks to provide for some excellent entertainment. DJ-duo, NSA will make sure you'll be dancing and we ourselves will be spinning some tunes as well.

Hunting The Robot has been a group of hard-working friends for almost three years now. Dedication, understanding and love are main principles in the band and hopefully always will be.

The past year Tom and the rest of the band sort of grew apart. Not as friends but musically and business wise.

This year we want to put even more effort and dedication into Hunting The Robot to make an album that is inspiring and will be remembered for a long time. Considering this thought and our drive to move one we have parted ways with our bassist Tom. For the coming time Hunting The Robot will be just Elvin, Gijs and Lloyd. We will work with a live-bassist for the shows and are looking to have a full member as soon as possible.

Tom will always be our brother and we want to thank him for three wonderful years.
His last show with us will be on Feb 8 @ TAC Eindhoven, we would appreciate it if you would come to show him some love.

Hello everyone,

2011 is coming to an end (hope you noticed). A year we have learned so much about music, ourselves and about the people around us. We’ve met many extraordinary people we owe a lot to. We’ve released music we’ve been working on for a long time and the response was overwhelming. We debuted on national television and did our own tour on our own terms.

We are extremely excited for the coming year and have loads of stuff that will be coming your way in 2012. First of all, we’ll be recording our debut album that is scheduled to be released in September. We’ve been writing for some time now and are getting a clearer vision about Album #1 by the day.

We know you guys are already jumping around on our new single Get Pregnant. Now there is some eye-candy to chew on to!

Last week we traveled to Arnhem where we recorded this clip in a very cold shed. The mystical artwork style from the single has been bleeding trough the video and we are very proud of this baby.

Yesterday morning we arrived back in Holland from a week of hardcore writing in the Ardennes. It was a lot of fun. We wrote a good amount of new stuff which have some sort of world music vibe to it. It's more upbeat then previous efforts and we're very excited in exploring this new direction. But before any of that will arrive we will release the 'Get Pregnant' single in September.

When we arrived yesterday morning we had little time to unpack because we had to play that night.
We had a very good time at the Effenaar playing support for the Belgium band 'Customs'.
It seemed as if everyone had a good time because we sold out our EP's. More EP's are yet to come but it might take a while..

Hello boys and girls,

The last couple of weeks we've been busy writing new material and arranging some things for later this year. One of those things is the reason for this message:

In about two weeks we'll be spending some days in the studio to record a special one-off single featuring 2 songs: 'Get Pregnant' and 'Super Consumerism'. It will be released in September of this year and will come together with a couple of exclusive shows all over the country. And be aware, the shows will be more danceable, more stunning and yet more rough than ever before.

Beside the recordings we'll continue playing festivals of course. Want to know if we play near you soon? Check the 'shows' section on our site.

Record Store Day, it is almost there. Bands are releasing special edition deluxe unseen never heard 10 disc sets and vinyl in all possible colors on the 16^th of April. This year we are participating! We will play an acoustic set at record store Sounds in the beautiful city of Delft. Because we only have our EP to offer we will offer that for half of the price on Record Store Day! So that’s 2.50 for one EP! Hooray!

ICELAND BLOG 6

Aaah.. the last day. The last freaking day. Before we go back to our lives in Holland we will show Reykjavik what Hunting The Robot is all about at the Unglist Festival.

The day started off with a bad feeling and and even worser feeling when we looked outside at the beautiful mountains. This is our last day in Reykjavik.
We skipped breakfast again because we still felt a little tired.

After a healthy lunch we went off to see the venue we would be playing that night. A beautiful theater where people need to sit down instead of jumping around like crazy. Hmmm.. is this the right place for us? We are not a 40-something-year old Golden Earing type of band doing Greatest Hits in big theaters right? Well at least we look cool.

After an amazing sound check (maybe the best one ever) we felt superb and couldn't wait to play to seated people. But then reality hit us and we were told to pack up our stuff from the hotel and clean the room before the show. After that we had some free time and we were just hanging out, looking at the beautiful sights once again.

Diner came and went and after that we rushed to the venue to see some bands play who were before us. You should check out the Icelandic band Of Monsters And Men and the amazing Polish band California Stories Uncovered. After a while we went backstage to get ready. We were still kind of nervous how it will turn out to play in front of people who are sitting down. When we came on stage a miracle we saw, a lot of people came to stand in front of the stage instead of in a seat and were ready to flip out. So everyone did. This was one of the best shows ever.

After the gig we went to a birthday party from friends of friends. Icelandic people stay out late (7/8 AM) in the weekends but we couldn't join them because we had to leave at 4 AM.
We hugged and kissed a lot of people (some may had been crying a little) before we took of to the airport and fly back home.
No sleep that day whatsoever.

At last we want to thank everyone who supported us on the trip and came out to see our shows. The Icelandic people are so warm and kind. Special thanks to Asa and Paul Giesen.

ICELAND BLOG 5

It was a quite relaxing day on Vulcano Island.

Not that we haven't done anything, but there was just no pressure and everything we did wasn't much of an assassination on our energy.

It was the first time we woke up by sunlight instead of a stupid alarm bell when it's still dark just to get in time for breakfast. Today we just skipped it.

On the way to our lunch (I mean 'Our breakfast, their lunch') we saw the Icelandic people demonstrating against the government who 'doesn't do anything about the economical crisis'.

If we were able to post video you would be amazed of how much noise they made

In the free time we got we've seen a lot of things. went to the Art Museum of Reykjavik. That's was a good choise, apart from some French/Icelandic popart artist we saw some work of this 'Power has a Fragrance' exhibition.

After we had some nice Icelandic dinner we went to see a local band at Faktory, apparently the same venue we played in last night. That really isn't that obvious, we've seen at least 5 places with live music when we walked to the Faktory bar. We've heard that's normal, every week. So much culture going on in such a small city (about 120.000 inhabitans!)

The band, called 'Who Knew', who we just knew this evening, was really cool.

Tomorrow we will be busy with the preparations for our gig. It will be the last thing we're doing before we go back to the Netherlands.

We sure gonna miss Iceland big time. That means we're sure gonna get back as soon as possible!

YEAH! We're just back in the hotel room from our first gig abroad, but before we gonna drown you with pictures, let us just tell you something about our visit to the studio of Iceland's most famous band....

Sigur Ros!

Well, we can be short: we're jealous. But we're not gonna be short mhuhaha. Although the visit was short by the way. Too short. Beginning to hate the word. Maybe because our guide.. well.. some people hint she looks like a hobbit (but no offence, she's still a really lovely person). But that's just from a minimum distance of 100 metres and a Lord Of The Rings setting. Or just judge for yourselves.

It was shot on our way to Sigur Ros' studio, to get back to the subject. It was located in a beautiful small village with a magic view on Icelandic mountains, but we only got this dark picture from the outside.

It actually is an old indoor swimming pool rebuild to an studio.

They have thousands of instruments in there and we wished there was enough time to try them all.

Very inspired and eager to play we headed for the Faktory bar, where we were going to play our first gig in Iceland and also our premiere gig abroad. What happened can best be described with pictures rather than words. (Actually video is even better, ..if we had that mac, but just remember you're all gonna see it soon)

Hey, today we've been very busy. From breakfast to dinner we were jamming in mixed groups with some other European musicians.

Yes, it was the first time we touched our instruments since we're here and it was a big relief.

It was very nice and inspiring, and we've never been as pumped as now to climb the stage. Tomorrow will be our first gig here in Iceland, and we can't wait!

We've invited a lot of local people of labels and record stores, who we're really enthusiastic and interested. We love the Icelandic people!
We already got recognised by an Icelandic label manager who we have never seen before. He said he heard from us and knew us from our pictures. That's quite plausible as we have the only afro's we've seen so far in Iceland.

Tomorrow we'll also visit the studio where Sigur Ros recorded. It's located outside the city, great!

NEWSFLASH. Icelands most famous vulcano is boiling again..

Today we still didn't touch our guitars, but that's no problem. We visited John Lennon's Memorial Island with art of Yoko Ono. See some pictures of it below ;)

I hope one day we'll get a memorial Island too.

Icelandic beardguy.

There's one thing sure after today; there will be no video's in our blogs. It's because our Macbook (with all the video editing software) broke down, even just before we were boarding the plane. Today we've been to the one and only AppleStore in Iceland and they needed 2 weeks to fix it. Now we just have to take the dead body of our Mac everywhere we go untill we are back in Holland.

The Point: I hope you're happy with only pictures and text, but I can assure you that we'll release a nice Iceland MOVIE as soon as our Mac is fixed.

Tomorrow we'll get our hands on our instruments for the first time! Hopefully some exciting things will happen.

(Also we'll try to make some more relevant pictures, as our hope to post the videos has vanished) :D

Currently we are in Iceland, doing fun stuff and playing our songs for the beautiful people. Check out our pictures!

A beautiful morning in beautiful Reykjavik( this picture is not from Google).

After breakfast we were inspired by the Icelandic cold to buy some traditional Icelandic sweaters. Expansive stuff. Sure looks nice!

This was an amazing weekend supporting the Belgian Customs and the amazing guys of Go Back To The Zoo. Both of the shows were sold out and we would like to thank everyone for coming out and having a great time with us. We will support Go Back To The Zoo again this coming Friday at Paard Van Troje, these tickets are also sold out : D

We have some great flipping news.

HUNTING THE ROBOT IS GOING TO ICELAND!

You're wondering, why is that? Well, last May we became 2nd in a competition called 'High School Music Competition', the first price contained a trip to Iceland so we were a little bummed out we missed out going there. The act that took the 1st place cancelled their trip to Iceland so now we are the lucky ones going!

We're going to Iceland mainly to learn and play in a totally different environment. We'll have workshops from talented musicians, go to studios, write new songs and play at the Unglist Festival. We'll be there from 30/10 till 6/11.

We will film, photograph and write down everything we see and do on that beautiful iceland so you don't have to miss a thing!

Oh, and do not forget to sign up for our newsletter for some exclusive stuff that will be coming your way.

The last couple of weeks we’ve spend our time and energy on our baby debut EP. We are happy to say that it’s almost finished. Hello,

Jup, we're busy with our debut EP. Things are starting to look like real things, songs are taking shape. We're in the stage of finalizing, putting the finger in the mouth and stroke the moustache right.

Now it's about time to hit the studio, don't you think? The first studio we'll be recording is Marmalade Music in Delft (www.marmaldemusic.nl) on the 14th of July, in these 8 hours we'll record the biggest part of a yet to be named song. Mysterious ain't it?

For the people who are missing the routine of monthly free downloads from Hunting the Robot, we have a pleasant suprise. Three live radio acoustic songs were taped and we think they're nice enough to share. So check out, 'Sign Here,Puppet','Carnival' and good old 'Invictus' acousticly on our myspace page.

Hello Boys and Girls,

First things first i guess. We will not release anymore free monthly singles from now on. 'Dear Rain' was our last single and we hoped you enjoyed the free download ride. But no need to worry! It's time for new exciting things! We are happy to anounce that we have decided to work hard on our debut EP. This EP will not come soon, it will be early 2011, we'll let you know the precize date when we know it ourselfs. The recording of this EP will happen all the time and everywhere. We will record some stuff in different studios and also a large part in our brand new 'home-studio' where we can take the time, not thinking about if we can afford to try something with this or that but rather work in peace. But keep this in mind, this is not a 'we are taking it slow' letter. We will do as much shows as possible this year, escpecially with the Popronde tour in Fall and try our best to let you hear from us. Stay tuned..

After the 21-minute, psychedelic, Pink-Floyd video-single 'La Vie D'un Jour (http://www.vimeo.com/10578872), we have a normal 4:20 min free single out this beautiful month May that goes by the name of: 'DEAR RAIN'

'Dear Rain' was also recorded in the Ardennes in the same week as 'La Vie D'un Jour' was. Credits to Roel Verberk, Koen-Willem Toering, Tom van Haute and Harm Timmermans. Some say the new single is a different direction for us however we will let you decide how you feel about it. Let us know.

With getting into the finals of a bandcontest named High School Music Competition, we won a low-budget videoclip! We can create the video ourself without people telling us what to do. 'Dear Rain' will be this clip and we will film it the 3th of May (Lloyd's birthday!) so look out for that one ;)
